A business license? Are activities legally permitted?
Roots of Connection is a licensed business with the County of Sacramento. We receive permits to conduct activities whenever necessary and legally perform all services and sales.
Are RoC activities appropriate for kids? Are dogs?
Some activities are appropriate for children. Typically activities are geared for children age 8 and up. Roots of Connections loves dogs, but…Although leashed dogs are permitted in most areas where Roots of Connection conducts activities, dogs are not allowed at our programs. We look forward to dog-inclusive events in the future, but for now, leave woofers at home.
Are RoC leaders trained in outdoor education and nature connection mentoring?
We have more than 15 years of experience leading nature connection programs. We are staffed with credentialed educators, certified naturalists, outdoor experts and have direct mentoring in Village Building, Bird Language Leaders, Peace Making, and the Art Mentoring.
Does RoC have liability insurance?
Roots of Connection has full liability insurance and all participants are required to complete a waiver form before participating. To download the waiver form, please visit our link in the resources section of our Web site. Click HERE for the waiver.
How do I know where to meet for an RoC experience?
We will be sure to provide you with driving directions and a map to program locations.
How should I prepare for an outdoor experience with RoC?

Check the weather and wear appropriate clothes for being in the elements, including a hat, sunglasses, proper hiking shoes, layers, snacks and water. Be prepared to walk on uneven surfaces and to possibly sit on the ground or rocks and logs. Magnifyers, binoculars, cameras, and journals are highly encouraged. Turning off phones and electronic devices is strongly recommended.

What about first aid? Will I be safe?
Your safety is our number one priority! Our staff is Wilderness First Aid and CPR certified, has intimate knowledge of the landscape, and has the knowledge, skills, and networks to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for all.
What kind of physical ability is needed for an RoC experience?
Depending on the activity, you may walk up 1-5 miles, and stand or sit outside for a period of time. No heavy lifyting is required, but some of our games require aerobic type activity and running.
