Roots of Connection teams up with local raft rental companies, non-profits, and rafting guides to provide friends and families with opportunities to learn about the rich history of the American River.
Many people in the Sacramento region are familiar with the lower American River because they floated or paddled the 7-mile stretch downstream from Sunrise Boulevard at some point in their life, or maybe they just saw or heard about others doing it . With ice chests and water cannons, it is easy for so many to overlook some of the hidden gems that exist on this stretch of river.
Come join us for a float down the river and see for yourself just how amazing the river is. We will spot herons and egrets, and perhaps otters and beavers. Learn about the native people who made the river their home, and how the Gold Rush and the rise of urbanization reshaped the river corridor.
We will stop at the infamous San Juan rapids and practice valuable water safety techniques, bank at Ancil Hoffman Park to enjoy refreshments and food grown locally and ease our way to River Bend Park where the trip concludes.
After floating the river with Roots of Connection, you will never look at the river the same way!
