Activate, motivate, connect. Learning comes easy and naturally in an outdoor classroom.
Classes foster the creation of future stewards of our natural resources through hands-on experiences that awaken the senses and lead participants to a deeper knowledge and sense of place, and to love the land intrinsically.
Inter-disciplinary classes are designed to achieve more than just scientific outcomes. They include art, public speaking, local history, some writing (nature journals), and they utilize technology (Google maps and iNaturalist). The classes are also rooted in practices called “Core Routines”- Sit Spot, Expanding Sensory Awareness, Questioning and Tracking, Animal Forms, Wandering, Mapping, Exploring Field Guides, Journaling, Minds-eye Imagining, Listening for Bird Language, Gratitude, and Story of the Day. Nature drives the instruction, and unstructured explorations often lead to the most powerful learning experiences.
